Work, Organisations and Society thematic research group meeting Doing policy oriented research

This meeting of the Work, Organisations and Society thematic group will be a workshop to examine the nature and mechanics of policy-oriented research.

The group will welcome guest speakers:

“How do think tanks work?”
Dr Aveek Bhattacharya, Interim Director, Social Market Foundation

“Post-pandemic working practices and residential preferences: implications for levelling up (England) and population sustainability (Scotland)”
Dr David McCollum, Senior Lecturer, University of St Andrews School of Geography & Sustainable Development

“Dig differently, not just deeper: Exploring the workplace landscape within entrepreneurial ecosystems using uncommon metrics”
Dr Augusto Rocha, Lecturer of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, University of Edinburgh Business School and Honorary Lecturer with the University of St Andrews Business School.

The main objectives of the session are to:

* highlight the importance of policy-oriented research and engagement with other research actors such as think tanks
* give a flavour of impactful policy-oriented research on post-pandemic working practises
* examine uncommon entrepreneurial metrics to help inform public policy evaluations
* create an informal and thought-provoking forum and discussion about the ways of generating impactful, policy-oriented research with external stakeholders.
