School of Chemistry Colloquium -- Professor Shigeru Yamago (Kyoto University)

Abstract: Structure is a key parameter that determines the physical properties and functions of molecules and materials. Yet, there are still several unique structures that are difficult to synthesize in medium- and macromolecules. We are particularly interested in the topology of these molecules, and I will introduce our two recent examples. One is the synthesis of pi-conjugated oligomers with cyclic structure, and the other is the synthesis of structurally controlled highly branched polymers.
