School of Chemistry Colloquium: Professor Ross Denton Phosphorus and Silicon -- Design, Development and Applications of New Synthesis Methods

The first part of the lecture will describe the design, development and applications of new synthesis methods and catalysts based upon organophosphorus and organosilicon chemistry. Topics covered include methods for the catalytic activation of alcohols and carboxylic acids, new reduction reactions as well as new methods for the modular synthesis of tertiary amines. The second part of the lecture will focus on biomimetic total synthesis of Illicium-derived phenolic natural products.
