In Conversation --- Propaganda, 'Rough Wooing' and Mary, Queen of Scots

Join us for an In Conversation Panel Discussion examining how propaganda shaped the early years of Mary Queen of Scots. The discussion will also explore the term “Rough Wooing,” debating how interpretations could change and how we can challenge historical narratives today.

This event is part of War, Destruction and Reform: The Early Years of Mary Queen of Scots, the programme accompanying the exhibition on view at the Wardlaw Museum from 7 March to 20 September 2026.

Held in collaboration with Alumni as part of the 2026 Alumni Weekend, this discussion offers fresh insight into one of Scotland's most turbulent periods and the powerful role of messaging, politics, and perception.
