Holocaust Memorial Day Vigil Interfaith Committee Vigil
On Thursday 26 January 2023, the University will observe the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, designated by the UN on the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Death Camp.
On this day, people around the world commemorate the six million Jewish victims who were murdered during the Holocaust, and 13 million people who died at the hands of the Nazis. As Holocaust survivors age and pass away, it is vital to carry their legacy and memory with us, to prevent future genocides, and to never forget the impact of the Holocaust on so many around the globe.
The St Andrews Interfaith Committee will hold an eight-hour vigil in which St Andrews community members are invited to read names of individuals who perished during the Holocaust in 15-minute intervals. The memorial will be held outside in front of the Mansefield Chaplaincy building at 3 St Mary's Place.
All students and staff are invited to read, listen and participate. If you would like to take part and read, please access the sign up sheet using the link or QR code below and choose a slot:
