Holocaust Memorial Day Pier Walk

On the evening of Thursday 26 January at 7pm the Interfaith Committee will hold a candlelit pier walk to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day.

We will gather at the entrance of the pier to hear readings, music and prayers in commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust. The readings will be followed by a silent pier walk that will allow participants time to reflect on the lessons learned from this tragic chapter of history.

All are invited to participate. Meet at the Pier.

Holocaust Memorial Day Vigil

Earlier in the day, there will be an eight-hour vigil in which St Andrews community members are invited to read names of individuals who perished during the Holocaust in 15-minute intervals. The memorial will be held outside in front of the Mansefield Chaplaincy building at 3 St Mary's Place.

All students and staff are invited to read, listen and participate. If you would like to take part and read at the Vigil (9am to 5pm), please access the sign up sheet using the link or QR code below and choose a 15-minute slot:

The day-long vigil followed by the night-time pier walk are powerful ways to bear witness to the suffering of the victims and to recognize the impact of the Holocaust today. All are invited to participate in one or both events.
