Department of Management research development session Becoming a leader in research: Working with journals and learned societies

This event welcomes back Honorary Professor Paul Hibbert as faciitator.

The session highlights the potential for meaningful roles that provide leadership to the academic community, through journal boards and editorial positions and through roles at learned societies. Based on experience in service and leadership roles and mentoring others, this workshop will offer an opportunity to discuss and explore how these kinds of leadership pathways can be developed to:
* deliver intrinsic rewards
* lead to new connections and skills
* provide a mechanism for delivering new or improved initiatives for academic and stakeholder communities.

In this way, researchers can have personally meaningful roles that productively shape the research environment. However, there is a requirement to carefully consider and shape such roles to maximise the benefits and minimise the burdens. Thus, this workshop also explores practical strategies that can help participants to achieve that balance.

Participants at all career stages are welcome, including those with their own leadership experience to share.
