Department of Management research development session Getting unstuck with writing

This event will welcome Honorary Professor Paul Hibbert as facilitator.

The interactive workshop will cover the main struggles associated with academic writing. It will cover six main themes:

* Planning — how to manage time for writing and use different ‘qualities' of time
* Process — tactics for getting writing under way and maintaining progress
* Programs and tools — how to use different tools for different aspects of writing
* Place — finding the contexts that work best for your writing
* People — how working with others can help with writing problems
* Perfectionism — and how to avoid it.

The facilitator will offer examples from his own experience of writing journal articles and academic books, collaboratively and as a sole author, and advising others. Potential solutions to the main writing problems will be suggested, and participants will also be encouraged to share their own experiences, ideas and tactics as part of the discussion.

After the workshop, there will be time available for short one-to-one conversations with participants who have any particular writing challenges that that they would like to discuss.
