Brainstorming meeting: applying to Horizon Europe for interdisciplinary sustainability research
The St Andrews Centre for Critical Sustainabilities (StACCS), in collaboration with the Research Business Development (RBD) team, invite you to attend this brainstorming meeting to discuss Horizon Europe's Draft Work Programmes for 2026-2027, with a view to exploring the possibilities for colleagues at St Andrews to submit collaborative bids. What capacity already exists? Where are support or new networks needed? We are especially keen to help anyone interested in applying with a proposal centred on interdisciplinary research on sustainability, in line with our remit.
Applications should relate to Pillar II: Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness and could be associated with any of the six clusters: 1) Health; 2) Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society; 3) Civil Security for Society; 4) Digital Industry and Space; 5) Climate, Energy and Mobility; and 6) Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment.
Calls of interest within these categories might include (but are not limited to):
- Cluster 1: Towards a better understanding and anticipation of the impacts of climate change on health
- Cluster 2: Governing global commons sustainably
- Cluster 3: Climate security and civil preparedness — new ways to develop pre- and post-crisis climate-change related scenarios for a more resilient Europe
- Cluster 4: Energy efficiency and sustainability of AI data processing in Data Centres
- Cluster 5: Fighting disinformation and effectively communicating on climate change
- Cluster 6: Living labs for co-creating solutions for the restoration of ecosystems
This sandpit event will provide an opportunity to develop initial ideas, connect with potential collaborators, and learn more about the application process. Representatives from the RBD team will introduce the grants and help with any technicalities, and there will be an opportunity to hear some words of wisdom from a previous grant winner.
Whether you're already planning to apply or are interested in supporting the development of an existing idea, we encourage you to come along.
Coffee, tea, and biscuits will be provided.
