Art Soc workshop Illuminated manuscript techniques

Join Art Soc at the Wardlaw Museum as they take inspiration form the Mary, Queen of Scots exhibition to host a workshop teaching some Illuminated Manuscript Techniques.

With instruction from Art Soc, participants will learn how to fill pages with illuminated letters, imitation gold leaf, decorated borders and personal symbolism, for example, mottoes, floral patterns, initials.

The workshop is free, but booking is required.

This event forms part of War, destruction and reform: the early years of Mary, Queen of Scots, a public programme accompanying the exhibition on view at the Wardlaw Museum from Saturday 7 March to Sunday 20 September 2026.
