In conversation: women and warfare
Join Libraries and Museums for a panel discussion examining how history frames and reframes women in positions of power.
Looking at the years of Mary, Queen of Scots and further, our speakers will explore themes like how women are represented, how much control they had over their own lives, and what factors influenced the legacies they left behind.
The event will be chaired by Professor Bridget Heal (University of St Andrews), with panellists Dr Amy Blakeway (University of St Andrews), Professor Jane Dawson, University of Edinburgh and Dr Bess Rhodes.
This event forms part of War, destruction and reform: the early years of Mary, Queen of Scots, a public programme accompanying the exhibition on view at the Wardlaw Museum from Saturday 7 March to Sunday 20 September 2026.
A varied programme of events, including family events, accompanies the exhibition.
This event will also be live streamed. Please click Join Online Event at the top of the page to register for online attendance.
