Wednesday Seminar Series Hispanismo, Shared Values, and Universality

“Hispanismo, Shared Values, and Universality”

The chapter explores Spain's relationship with its colonial past through the concept of Hispanismo and the so-called “special connection” between Spain and Spanish speaking Latin America. Marta looks at the ways Spain reframes its colonist past in Latin America into a share history, leading to a shared culture, which has been instrumentalised to justify neocolonial relations in the region.

The research seminars are intended for the academic staff and postgraduate researchers in the School of International Relations. Other interested students should contact the Seminar Convenor, Dr.J.S. Murer ([email protected]).
