Vigil for the people of Iran

Students, staff and members of the wider St Andrews community are invited to stand together to remember the thousands of men, women and children killed in recent weeks during anti-government protests in Iran.

The vigil is organised by colleagues in the School of History and School of Modern Languages and supported by the University.

Words will be offered by several Iranian colleagues, including Senior Lecturer, Dr Saeed Talajooy, and Professor Ali Ansari, as well as the University's Chaplain, before a short silence is held to remember all those affected by the unrest.

Participants will also be able to pay their respects by symbolically lighting a candle, provided by LED lanterns, during the event.

All are welcome regardless of background, faith or philosophy of life.

Further details are available from Dr Talajooy at st83@ st-andrews.ac.uk.
