Unwrapping the Galloway Hoard
Buried at the beginning of the 10th century in Dumfries and Galloway, the Hoard lay undisturbed for a thousand years before being discovered by a metal detectorist and excavated by an archaeologist in September 2014.
Four years of painstaking conservation and research has restored these rare and unique treasures to their full glory and revealed the incredible stories of the richest collection of Viking-age objects ever found in Britain or Ireland.
Join the St Andrews Archaeology Society when Dr Martin Goldberg, Principal Curator, National Museums Scotland will take us through the some of the latest findings.
