Unsettling the museum: thinking through Indigenous entaglements EDGES Symposium
EDGES (Entangling Indigenous Knowledges in Universities), in collaboration with the Institute for Museums, Heritage and Society (IMHS), invites submissions and participation in this international symposium.
The event will bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars, curators, artists and community practitioners to critically reflect on museums as postcolonial institutions shaped through complex Indigenous entanglements. Across three thematic strands, the symposium will explore Indigenous agency, decolonial curatorial practices, reparative approaches to collections, and new relational ethics of care, collaboration and knowledge-making.
Participants are invited to engage with the symposium in two ways:
- as presenters, by submitting a paper proposal
- as attendees, joining the discussions, workshops and exchanges
Early bird discount to attend the event is available until the end of March.
The Call for Papers provides full details on symposium themes, submission guidelines, and key dates. Contributions from Indigenous researchers, artists, curators, and community practitioners are especially encouraged, alongside interdisciplinary and international perspectives. To register please use the “More information link” at the bottom of this page.
The symposium is organised as part of the EDGES project, with the support of ICOM's International Committee for Social Museology (SOMUS) and International Committee of Museology (ICOFOM).
