University of Sanctuary information session
All members of the University community are welcome to join this online information session that will explore what University of Sanctuary status means to St Andrews.
This event will bring together staff, students and several external partners to share their experience of working together to promote Sanctuary initiatives and support students and scholars who have faced forced migration. The session will also look towards future opportunities to build on the work that has taken place at the University in order to enhance engagement and understanding.
Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sally Mapstone, will open this session, and presenters will include:
- Sam Lister, Director of the Global Office and Co-Chair of the St Andrews Sanctuary Operations Group
- Zeid Al-Bayaty, Deputy Executive Director, Council for At-Risk Academics (Cara)
- Gün Orgun, City of Sanctuary Coordinator for Scotland and Northern Ireland
- Maryam Taher, University of Sanctuary Co-ordinator
- Alison Jardine, Manager, Fife Migrants Forum
- Refugee Action St Andrews (RASA)
- Lesley Caldwell, Community Engagement and Social Responsibility Officer
