Toronto: drinks and canapés RSVP required

An evening of drinks and canapés to celebrate the links between St Andrews and Canada; hosted at the University Club of Toronto, Canada.

Please RSVP to [email protected] to confirm your attendance

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to join me, fellow alumni, parents of students and other friends of St Andrews for drinks and canapés at the University Club of Toronto, on Thursday 1 November.

As a Canadian and a St Andrews alumnus I am very proud of the deep and longstanding links between our University and Canada, whether that be the exchange programmes with Queen's and Western; the Canadian Bobby Jones Scholarships; or the growing numbers of aspiring Canadian medics who are taking advantage of our innovative Medicine A990 BSc course.

The evening will offer a chance to celebrate those links and to share the latest news about how our University is preparing for the challenges and opportunities of its seventh century.

I am delighted that we will be joined by Doug Gibson (MA 1966), past President of the Students' Association and distinguished editor and publisher of Canadian authors including Nobel laureate Alice Munro. Doug has been instrumental in leading a campaign to name a room in our redevelopment Students' Association as the Canada Room, in recognition of the strength of the relationship between Canada and St Andrews.

I hope to see you on 1 November for what I am sure will be a convivial evening.
