Janis Hart
Janis has created many site-specific installations and stage designs and specific installations and for theatre, dance and opera productions and worked as an art director for film. Freelance work has included companies and spaces all over Britain, and she has been a resident designer at Plymouth Theatre Royal, Worcester Swan Theatre and Derby Play- house, and Artist in Residence at South Hill Park Art Centre in Bracknell.
She enjoys interesting collaborations and spaces — often outdoors, which have included large- scale community performances in an abandoned hospital in Birmingham, the banks of the Water of Leith in Edinburgh and Methil Docks, the installation of a 17 meter diameter ‘Earth Stage' in Gorbals Rose Garden for the Citizens Theatre, many of London's urban and green spaces in collaboration with the London Bubble and installations for Aberdeen's Creative Learning festivals.
Janis is a regular collaborator with Company Chordelia and choreographer Kally Lloyd Jones in Glasgow, creating moving and accessible multi-genre dance performances which explore narrative and character driven work centred around deeply human theme
Recent work includes the design of Teeny Weeny for Shaper Caper and Starcatchers, and Peace Cranes a huge installation of 140.000 origami cranes for the Just Festival in Edinburgh.
