The Hall of Clestrain, Orkney

Clestrain Hall was built in the 1760s and was the childhood home of arctic explorer John Rae. It is an exceptional survival of Georgian architecture and is currently being restored for a new future by the John Rae Society. The archaeological team is led by historic buildings archaeologist Tom Addyman who will be talking about unravelling the history of Clestrain Hall through analysis of the building itself and archaeological excavation.
