The Assault on Burnswark Hill: a conflict re-imagined Dr John Reid, The Trimontium Trust
Advances in digital technology are opening up ever-more realistic ways to depict archaeological sites and events from the past. This talk describes how landscape archaeology and excavated evidence have been used to create a detailed and dramatic model of a Roman attack on a hillfort in Dumfriesshire. This technique has then been used to create a fully immersive experience at Trimontium Museum in Melrose, where visitors can encounter something of the ferocity of a Roman assault.
