Sustainable Summer Fayre Transition's annual community sustainability event

The annual Sustainable Summer Fayre, organised by the Students' Association and Transition St Andrews, is for students, staff and the local community alike. Everything is free, except for the gift stalls and preloved clothes.

This year we will be spreading out at the Students Union, filling both indoor and outdoor spaces. Come and celebrate this fabulous community of ours and join in with the sharing of clothes, summer games, skills and expertise, while enjoying live music and trying some free plant-based food, and helping us share ideas for the best, most affordable and sustainable summer holidays.

The event will feature:

  • a preloved summer clothes sale (£1) and swap
  • free summer toys and games, camping gear, picnic and beach items for all ages
  • a kids craft corner
  • live music and free food
  • a tombola
  • stands selling locally and sustainably made gifts, jewellery, accessories and more
  • sustainable fashion and upcycling display plus free fabric to take away
  • tips on how to mend, upcycle and (re)design clothes, crochet, lino print and knit
  • free garden tool advice and repair
  • free bike maintenance, basic repairs and advice
  • sustainable travel ideas: bring a photo of your favourite local places to visit
  • free seeds and seedlings and vegetable growing advice

The Transition team will also be fundraising for the Fulfil a Wish initiative. The team is collaborating again with the St Andrews Storehouse Foodbank to fund ‘summer wishes' requested by their customers, such as meals out or visits to local attractions.

Please get in touch if you would like to help out, if you have new items for Fulfil a Wish initiative tombola prizes, or new or second-hand summer toys or games, camping gear, beach or picnic items, UK maps and guides, or seeds and seedlings you would like to donate.
