St Andrews Chorus returns to Dundee's magnificent Caird Hall, currently celebrating its centenary year, for a performance of Schumann's glorious Paradise and the Peri. Based on an episode from Thomas Moore's epic poem Lalla Rookh, it was Schumann's most popular piece in his lifetime, but performances now are a rarity: Sir Simon Rattle describes it as “the great masterpiece you've never heard”.

The Chorus is delighted to welcome back six soloists with strong links to the Music Centre, three of them St Andrews alumni who sang with the Chorus during their time here. The programme also includes short choral pieces by Mendelssohn and Brahms, two composers closely associated with Schumann, accompanied by Andrew Macintosh on the Caird Hall's outstanding organ.
