Sources and Resources: Engaging with the Academic Community £75 for delegates, £35 for students.
In the eighth annual English for Academic Purposes (EAP) conference, English Language Teaching (ELT) is exploring the subtleties of successfully engaging with the academic community. This is the ultimate goal of our students, although they may not be fully aware of this. Engagement occurs on a number of levels, through spoken discourse, reading the academic literature and in a great variety of written genres. For many students, using the literature appropriately in their work is fraught with difficulties including what to cite, how to cite it and how to weave this into their own argument.
The title of the plenary talk is ‘Citation in student writing – what do they do, and why do they do it?' which will be presented by Hilary Nesi from Coventry University.
