Silent Night: Convoy to Ukraine A documentary about Reusing IT

For over a decade, the University of St Andrews has partnered with Reusing IT, a West Lothian-based charity, to tackle digital poverty. This vital work involves refurbishing and repairing thousands of PCs, laptops, and other IT equipment to support local low-income households and charities as well as international organisations focused on education, health and agriculture.

End of life University devices are now making an even greater impact by helping children in war-torn Ukraine continue their education. Reusing IT has become the fourth-largest supplier of devices to Ukraine since the war began, following UNICEF, Google, and HP. These devices provide a lifeline for children forced to learn from home or in makeshift classrooms within safe shelters.

University colleagues and members of the community are invited to join IT Services and Reusing IT's founder, Ross Cockburn, for a screening of Silent Night, a powerful documentary that follows Reusing IT, in partnership with Yorkshire Aid Convoy, on their mission to deliver essential technology and supplies to Ukraine in March 2024. The film captures the real-world benefits of this University partnership, the emotional realities of war and the volunteers working to bring hope.
