Science Discovery Day 2023 Free

Science Discovery Day, our annual public engagement with science event, returns for the first in-person session since 2020.

The event offers a day of fun, inspirational and informative STEM activities from across the Faculty of Science in the School of Physics and Astronomy (J F Allen Building). Activities will include hands-on science games, flash-bang demo lectures, lab tours and the chance to engage with researchers. The café will be open throughout the day.

The event will be followed in the evening by the Observatory Open Night, which gives everyone acccess to the University Observatory from 6pm to 9pm. The evening will offer tours of the Observatory's telescopes, an exhibition of artwork, discussions with astronomers, and (weather permitting) the chance to do some stargazing through some of our smaller telescopes once the Sun goes down. Find out more on the Observatory web page.

Both events are drop-in, so come along any time they are open. We will have activities for families with young kids and for any other interested members of our community who want to find out more about science research going on in St Andrews.

The event is free and open to everyone.
