Streamlined synthesis of C(sp3)-rich molecules via base-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling and hydrocarbonation reactions
Abstract. In drug discovery, the proportion of C(sp3) atoms in a molecule is positively correlated to its chance of clinical success. Modular methods for the synthesis of C(sp3)-rich molecules are therefore in high demand. In this talk I will present our recent work in base-metal-catalyzed cross coupling of alkyl electrophiles and nucleophiles as well as Ni-catalyzed hydroalkylation of alkenes. These methods introduce alkyl fragments into organic molecules in a streamlined manner while using readily available reagents.
