Saints Talk: Professor Brad MacKay Reflections on postgraduate study at St Andrews

Development is delighted to invite you to the next instalment in our Saints Talk series, this time from Professor Brad MacKay, Deputy Principal and Vice-Principal (International Strategy and External Relations).

In this talk, ‘Reflections on postgraduate study at St Andrews', Professor MacKay will reflect on his time as a postgraduate student at St Leonard's College as it celebrates its 50th Anniversary.

Professor MacKay graduated from St Leonard's College in 2004 with a PhD in Strategy, after receiving an MLitt (with Distinction) in Management, Economics and Politics (MEP). He will discuss how his time as a postgraduate in St Andrews and his research work helped to set him on a trajectory towards his current post and his additional role of Interim Dean of the Business School.

St Leonard's College was originally founded in 1512 to educate and support novices and “poor clerks” of the Augustinian Order. The College has evolved over the centuries and, fifty years ago, it underwent a remarkable transformation. Two hundred and twenty seven years after its amalgamation with St Salvator's College, St Leonard's College was reconstituted to be the home for the University's postgraduate community.

Half a century on, its commitment to supporting postgraduate students, fostering intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and scholarly excellence remains unwavering.
