Tackling the coronavirus: on surfaces and in the air Saints Talk: Dr Catherine Adamson

We are delighted to invite you to the next instalment in our Saints Talk from Dr Catherine Adamson, Tackling the coronavirus: on surfaces and in the air.

Dr Adamson (pictured left), from the School of Biology, will talk about establishing a SARS-CoV-2 research programme in the Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) biocontainment facility at the University of St Andrews.

The areas she is researching include countering transmission via surfaces touched by many people, e.g., door handles, through developing new surface coatings that rapidly inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus and investigating how Far-UVC light can inactivate aerosolized viruses in human occupied spaces, e.g., a University lecture theatre or a classroom (pictured) to prevent transmission of viruses spread in the air.
