Richard Michael: The History of Jazz Piano, Part Two Tickets £3
In Part 2 of The History of Jazz Piano, Richard focuses on the era when swing (Basie, Tatum) gave way to the Be-Bop (Powell, Monk) and jazz was never the same again. Using a well-known tune (which can be suggested by the audience), Richard will show you what ‘Swing' feels like, and how boppers used a more and more limited left-hand technique to convey the advanced melodic techniques they developed in their right hand flights of fancy.
The programme will also feature the styles of two players who don't fit into any category: Errol Garner and Lenny Tristan.
