Reusing IT -- Repair & Advice Cafe Special Event Short film screening, IT Upskilling Workshop and Repair Cafe - Free
This special event will host the founder of Edinburgh charity Reusing IT, who will be demonstrating how to refurbish laptops and computers and install free alternative operating systems to Microsoft, to address digital exclusion.
For anyone interested in joining the St Andrews Repair & Advice Cafe to help refurbish devices and distribute them to those in need, he will run a special upskilling workshop from 12 noon to 2pm. Please prebook by Thursday 22 January by emailing [email protected]. There will a free vegan sandwich lunch included.
Transition's monthly St Andrews Repair & Advice Cafe will then run from 2pm to 4.30pm alongside repair cafes from across Fife in celebration of the repair movement. There will be volunteers offering free sewing, electrical, jewellery and chipped ceramic repairs to staff, students and community. Electrical items need to be pre-booked by emailing [email protected].
There will also be free advice on wood pallet upcycling, installing free software and eco architecture.
Free refreshments provided and an opportunity to see Reusing IT's moving 14-minute film about their work providing IT equipment to school children in Ukraine.
