Retiral Presentation for Eric Gillespie

Eric Gillespie, Finance Operations Manager, is retiring at the end of September after over 34 years' service with the University. Starting in the Payroll Department in 1984 – shortly before his golfing rival Severiano Ballesteros won the Open at St Andrews that year – Eric then moved to Finance as a Purchase Ledger Assistant in 1996. Eric went on to become Cash Office Manager in 2001 and in 2004 he became the Operations Manager, looking after the ‘Engine Room' of Cash Office, Accounts Payable and Credit Control. As a key member of the Finance team, many of you will have had contact with Eric over the years in one guise or another. A champion of both excellent customer service and lean thinking, Eric will be missed by us all professionally, but also personally for his tremendous sense of humour and supportive team-working style. There really is only one Eric Gillespie. Finance will be hosting an informal gathering in the Beacon's Bar for Eric on his last day, 28 September, from 5pm and would be delighted if you could pop by to wish him well.

There will be a presentation at 6pm. Light refreshments will be provided. If you would like to contribute to his retiral collection, can we invite you to do so via the Eric Gillespie page on the online shop by 20 September 2018.
