The School of Psychology and Neuroscience is hosting a seminar presented by Dr John Michael from the University of Warwick.
Dr Michael’s seminar is titled: ‘The Origins of the Sense of Commitment in Ontogeny and Phylogeny’. The seminar will begin at 1pm in the Old Library, within the School of Psychology and Neuroscience.
Abstract: I will briefly introduce a theoretical framework for research on the sense of commitment in joint actions, and then present the results of several recent and ongoing studies investigating factors modulating the sense of commitment in adults and children. Finally, I will also present an idea for a study probing whether some form(s) of commitment may be present in chimpanzees.
