PG Forum: Chris O'Hara Mock Viva
Join colleagues in the School of English for a special PG Forum, where fourth-year PhD candidate Chris O'Hara will be taking part in a mock viva examination, with Dr James Purdon and fifth-year PhD candidate Dong Xia acting as external and internal examiners, respectively.
Chris has recently submitted his thesis, which is entitled ‘Modern Velocities: Mobility Technologies in 20th Century British and Irish Narratives'.
This is a unique opportunity to get a taste of the process and structure of a PhD viva, in miniature. The topic of the viva will be the final chapter of Chris's PhD thesis, ‘The Lonely Sea, It Never Stops for You or Me': Working Class Voices and the Unstable Sea in the Works of James Hanley'.
For a copy of the chapter that Chris will be examined on, please get in touch with Lucy and Phoebe at [email protected].
