Palestine Cinema Days 2025 Film screening and debate - Free
Free screening of The dupes (1972) directed by Tewfik Saleh with an introduction by Kate Khair on Ghassan Kanafani.
Following the screening there will be an open discussion, moderated by Dr Wassim Naboulsi, Associate Lecturer at the School of International Relations.
The novella and the film follow three Palestinian refugees, Abu Qais, Assad and Marwan, who attempt to escape Lebanon's refugee camps and make their way to Kuwait.
The screening is part of Palestine Cinema Days, a global initiative by Filmlab Palestine, with more than 500 Palestinian film screenings worldwide on the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. The day resists against the erasure of Palestinian voices.
The event is organised by students from the Department of Film Studies with the help of the Palestine Solidarity Society.
