Mine -- New Music Week Presentation

A presentation by Jane Brettle and Robin Mason, with live music, of their installation ‘mine' which visitors can view in the Stuart and Geraldine Mitchell Reading Room throughout New Music Week.

‘mine' is a two-screen work progressed over several years in relation to two mining locations – a coal mining area of Lothian and a tin mining area of Cornwall. The work views these once ravaged but currently compelling post-industrial sites with reference to their history and their future. Developed in collaboration, the visual elements of the work are linked by a single soundtrack that unites the landscapes; considering the way in which sound/music – in relation to image/text – effect meaning.
