MaMa -- workshop for parents with babies and toddlers Free but please book
This workshop with Kirsten Newell and Oxana Banshikova offers a safe space where parents and their babies and toddlers can gather for a short film and dance show alongside the opportunity to take part in sharing and discussion. The workshop (and the evening performance) evoke feelings about pregnancy and parenthood and the changes and transitions parents go through.
You will enter a space designed for relaxation, helped by a specially composed soundscape that fits the mood of our workshop.
The children are welcomed into a multisensory, open warm space where they will encounter the colours, fabrics, lights, sounds and movements that are present within the film and within south Asian dance. Warm lights and projection add to the mood, creating a sense of wellbeing.
After the film you can share your thoughts about the film, your own journey, or simply listen and observe.
The sharing sessions are facilitated by midwife Jenny Patterson who has supported the dance project.
The project's artistic development has been made possible by an award from Creative Scotland, who are supportive of the company's aim to raise the profile of and build audiences for South Asian dance in Scotland.
