The Atelier Ensemble perform a programme of stylistic contrasts: from the sultry rhythms of Piazzolla's Verano Porteño—his dazzling reimagining of Vivaldi's seasonal world through the lens of Buenos Aires' nuevo tango—to Britten's youthful Introduction and Allegro, whose sparkling interplay pays tribute to the great English string tradition. The concert concludes with Paul Schoenfield's exuberant Café Music, inspired by the composer's experiences performing in American jazz clubs.
