Lunch & Learn: Entrepreneurship in sport

Entrepreneurship isn't just for business students, this semester the Entrepreneurship Centre is exploring how entrepreneurial thinking can thrive in unexpected arenas. The second session in our three-part Lunch & Learn series turns the spotlight on sport, showcasing how passion, strategy and determination can translate into successful business ventures.

This session features Sheli McCoy, SABRE from BBC's Gladiators, Olympic-level weightlifter, CrossFit champion, and founder of her own gym. Sheli has built a successful business around her athletic expertise, combining elite performance with entrepreneurship, media and wellness initiatives. Very recently, she has become Scotland's only gladiator on the BBC re-boot of the famous prime time UK TV show.

She will share her journey of turning sporting passion into business success, offering practical insights for anyone looking to launch their own venture.

In this session, you'll learn:

  • how to leverage skills from sport into entrepreneurial opportunities
  • steps to start and grow a business from your passion
  • lessons in resilience, strategy and innovation from an elite athlete

The session will run for approximately 45 minutes, followed by time for discussion and Q&A. Lunch will be provided. RSVP through Startuptree to secure your spot.
