Presenter: Anel Mustafina currently works at the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), focusing on the delivery of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) and the Early Career Framework (ECF). She also serves as an Honorary Research Assistant at NIoT and is an Editor of Leadership Connections, the magazine published by the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership.
Anel holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of Tokyo and a master's in Educational Leadership from the UCL Institute of Education (IOE). Her research interests include school leadership development, teachers' professional learning, and evidence-informed practice in education.
She is passionate about bridging research and practice to strengthen school leadership and enhance professional learning for teachers.
Abstract: This talk will present Anel's own research on how school leaders lead teachers' professional learning in all-through private schools in Kazakhstan. It will be of interest to those curious about effective professional learning, as well as those looking to broaden their understanding of international education systems and school leadership practices.
It will begin with a brief introduction to the Kazakhstani education system, followed by an overview of key themes from the literature, including: effective professional learning, leadership for learning, professional learning communities (PLCs), and the use of evidence.
The session will then briefly introduce the research methodology before presenting the main findings, and will close with a Q&A session.
