Language as a tool, diplomacy as a system Rethinking career pathways for modern language graduates
School of Modern Languages students are invited to this talk by Chih-Hua Ding, Director General of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK (Edinburgh Office).
Director Ding will speak about his diplomatic career path. He is a career foreign service officer of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and holds a Masters degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan.
Director Ding previously served in Italy, El Salvador and Paraguay and, in Taiwan, held posts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Security Council and the Prime Minister's Office. Prior to his posting to Scotland, he served as Secretary-General of the Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The School of Modern Languages is very pleased to welcome Director Ding to the School and we hope this event will be of interest to all languages students who may be considering a career in diplomacy or public service and would like to gain insights into the diplomatic career pathway of a former languages student.
There are limited places for this event so please register if you would like to attend.
