Jon Pineda -- a reading from his current work-in-progress

We're delighted to welcome Jon Pineda from the College of William & Mary in Virginia, who will be reading from his new novel, currently a work-in-progress.

Jon Pineda is the author of six books: two novels, three poetry collections, and one memoir. His work has appeared in numerous literary magazines and anthologies, including the New York Times Magazine, Shenandoah, and Sierra Club, and has twice received the Library of Virginia Literary Award (one for fiction and one for poetry).

Jon is a core faculty member in the MFA programme at Queens University of Charlotte and has taught in their Latin America MFA programme in Rio de Janeiro and in Buenos Aires. He has served on the teaching faculty at Kundiman, a “national nonprofit organisation dedicated to nurturing generations of writers and readers of Asian American Literature”, and is Associate Professor of English at the College of William & Mary, where he directs the Creative Writing programme.

Jon's most recent novel, Let's No One Get Hurt, was published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux: “Let's No One Get Hurt is the evocative story of a free-spirited girl trying to find herself amid memories of her long-gone mother. The story is beautifully and even poetically told in Pearl's first-person voice . . . The fully developed characters are as memorable as the lovely, sometimes melancholy story they people. A classic coming-of-age novel that lingers with the reader long after the last page.”―Booklist (starred review)
