Interdisciplinary Encounters: Challenge-led Assessment

We're delighted to launch a new series of interdisciplinary events, Interdisciplinary Encounters. The first event is a lunchtime Teams roundtable on ‘Challenge-led Assessment'. Do join us — everyone welcome!
[Note: we've moved this to online in response to requests, so hopefully this makes it easier to attend, even if no free lunch!]

The idea behind the series is to bring together those interested in interdisciplinary teaching, learning and scholarship to connect and discuss practices, ideas, and research.

In this first event Dr Margaret Leighton (Economics), Dr Brendan Whitty (Management) and Dr Miguel Barbosa (Biology) will share examples of cross-disciplinary assessments they've designed, with a time for open discussion at the end exploring how to best support students working across disciplines and effectively assess cross-disciplinary collaboration and learning.

In June, we'll hold the next Interdisciplinary Encounters event when Dr Katrine Lindvig from the University of Copenhagen will be visiting St Andrews — details to follow.

And then in semester 1 of 24/25, we'll host a second session on interdisciplinary assessment looking at creative and reflexive approaches, with Dr Roxani Krystalli (International Relations); see her recent publication on ‘Teaching & Learning Reflexivity in the World Politics Classroom'.
