Incontri: telling Scots-Italian stories through photography

The afternoon will feature the presentation of a curated exhibition of photographs and archival materials that trace the shifting presence of Italians in Scotland since the nineteenth century, offering glimpses into stories that are less often told.

Guest speakers, Fife historian Norma Alari, writer Dr Anne Pia, Professor Manuela D'Amore (Catania) and Samantha Walker, manager and curator at the St Andrews Heritage Museum, will share their insight and knowledge on this history.

Incontri forms part of a collaborative project led by Professor Derek Duncan and Eleanor Summers in the Department of Italian, and is funded by Historic Environment Scotland. The project also aims to develop an online visual history of Italian migration from the nineteenth century to the present day.
