Inclusive Practice in Education Symposium Inclusive practice and academic identities: dialogues and reflections
The Inclusive Practice in Education working group invites you to the inaugural Inclusive Practice in Education Symposium.
Questions of inclusivity and diversity are regularly posed in terms of curriculum design and delivery, the enrichment of learning environments, and the enhancement of student experience. This symposium reorientates the conversation to examine the manner in which a commitment to — or the desire for — inclusivity and diversity in HE transforms academic identities.
Open to all members of staff at St Andrews, the programme of the day includes:
9.45am to 11am: A fireside chat with the Proctor, Professor Clare Peddie, on the evolving understanding of inclusivity in the British eduscape and the way in which it has formed and transformed her academic identity. Along with a Q&A session, this conversation is also aimed at appreciating how inclusivity is embedded in the educational policies and strategies at St Andrews.
11am to 11.15am: coffee break
11.15am to 1pm: A workshop with participants where inclusivity is examined in relative and contextual terms — disciplinary, institutional, and (inter)national. Coupled with the use of frameworks employed in reflective practice, this workshop is designed to help articulate how inclusivity in education has informed our and you academic identities and what it means to be an inclusive practitioner at St Andrews.
1pm to 2.30pm: closing remarks and lunch.
The symposium is free to attend. To register, please book tickets below by Friday 8 March.
Any queries about the symposium can be directed to Rita Tojeiro at [email protected] or Amritesh Singh at [email protected]. Please email us if you have any accessibility or dietary requirements.
