Impacting global health through implementation science and digital health innovations A Lecture by Professor Xiaolin Wei
This May, the School of Medicine will welcome medically trained public health specialist Professor Xiaolin Wei, who will deliver this seminar on the application of implementation science and digital health innovations to global health issues.
Implementation science employs rigorous methods to promote the systematic incorporation of research findings into routine practice, and hence, to improve the quality and effectiveness of health services. This talk will explore the integration of implementation science and digital health innovations to address healthcare challenges in China, Pakistan, and the Philippines. Examples include randomised controlled trials of interventions targeting antibiotic misuse, tuberculosis treatment adherence, hypertension management and vaccination during the pandemic.
By sharing his experiences and insights, Professor Wei will will aim to illustrate how research evidence can be translated into impactful clinical and public health practices. Above all, he will highlight the importance of collaboration with local stakeholders. This includes strategies in co-designing interventions to influence national policies to drive sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery and outcomes in global health.
