Hindu-Christian Dialogue: A Comparative Approach

Professor Mario Aguilar, of the School of International Relations, completed in 2018 his Indian trilogy on Christian-Hindu dialogue and he is preparing several volumes of essays on Hindu-Christian Dialogue to be published by Motilal Banarsidass Publishers in New Delhi (first volume 2019).

Within this seminar from the Centre for the Study of Religion and Politics, Professor Aguilar will outline the theoretical framework of this work beginning with the categories of Brahma, intrareligious dialogue, and his first commentary on the Mānava-Dharmřsāstra. He will argue that the engagement with Hindu theology is the foundation for any interreligious dialogue rather than the search for advaita Vedanta only, a path taken by Europeans in dialogue with Hinduism since the 20th century.
