Golf Graduations: Jack Nicklaus to be made Honorary Citizen Free, open to the public

The town of St Andrews and its ancient university will honour some of the world's best-loved golfers when The 150th Open returns to the Home of Golf in July 2022.

Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, José María Olazřbal, Catriona Matthew, Sir Bob Charles and Sandy Lyle will be honoured in a major public ceremony.

Jack Nicklaus is to be made an Honorary Citizen of St Andrews by The Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council, while Trevino, Olazřbal, Matthew, Charles and Lyle will receive honorary degrees from the University of St Andrews in recognition of their achievements and outstanding service to the game of golf.
