Energy Café: Governing 'Wild' Substances and Subterranean Storage in an Era of Climate Change

Our twice monthly Energy Café series will begin on Tuesday January 23rd with a presentation from Sean Field

In this Café, Sean will discuss how natural gas has evolved from excess nuisance, to liability, to potential asset turned commodity. Based on a forthcoming article and research in the United States, he shows that prevailing understandings and treatments of natural gas parallel unfolding understandings and treatments of carbon dioxide.
The Energy Café is an informal, open and inclusive space where people across University of St Andrews, from undergraduates to Professors Emeriti, can come together for an hour to share ideas about the energy research they are working on. It is intended to encourage collaborations, expand research horizons, and inspire new ideas and questions about issues of energy.
Hosted by the Centre for Energy Ethics, the Energy Café is not limited to one discipline, one department or one school — it is open to everyone.

Following Sean's presentation, we invite you to join us in the Social Anthropology Coffee Room (UCO:45) for refreshments
