Dr Garth C Japhet: Breaking down barriers in a divided world James Gregory Lecture

The James Gregory Public Lectures on Human Flourishing bring world-class scholars to St Andrews to share cutting-edge insights into the relationship between faith, science and human flourishing. Their aim is to foster open and constructive dialogue about what it means to live and flourish as human beings.

This year's public lecture will be from Garth Japhet who is Chief Executive Officer of Heartlines, an NGO that initiates large-scale social change campaigns using feature films and TV series as a catalyst for training and community mobilisation to tackle society's big issues, most recently the promotion of social connectedness.

Trained as a physician with a specialty in maternal and child health, Garth previously co-created the pioneering multimedia edutainment platform, Soul City, which has reached more than 50 million people in ten southern African countries through entertainment programming, community mobilisation and advocacy.

Garth also founded Forgood, a digital platform that facilitates employee community engagement, is on the WEF Global Future Council for the future of media and entertainment, is a Senior Ashoka fellow and a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative.
