Diva Opera: Rigoletto
Known for their versatility and commitment to reinvigorating classic works for today's audiences, Diva Opera's acclaimed productions are coming to the Laidlaw Music Centre in St Andrews.
In the first performance of this two-night residency by Diva Opera, Verdi's powerfully vivid score tells a tale of corruption and betrayal in the 16th century court of the Duke of Mantua. The strenuous efforts made by Rigoletto, the Court jester, to shelter his daughter from the decadence of court society inadvertently lead to her murder. Both beautiful and shocking, Rigoletto is undoubtedly one of the greatest and most popular operatic tragedies ever written. The cast includes Philip Smith, Gabriella Cassidy, Julian Henao Gonzalez, Timothy Dawkins and Stephanie Windsor Lewis.
